It's the national capital, but every one of the state capitals is larger than it, and it has a reputation for stultifying boredom. If I had the choice I wouldn't have spent a week there, but it wasn't terribly unpleasant. Wednesday was a half day at the conference I was at, and it was sunny, so I set off on a long walk around the city, finishing up at the very excellent Cafe Essen.
