Our hotel was at Rosenthalerplatz, a few minutes' walk from the pride of the GDR, the Fernsehturm in Alexanderplatz. Visible from all across Berlin at 368 metres tall, it's an excellent place to go for views of the city, and meals in the rotating restaurant. We headed up there on our first evening to catch a beautiful December sunset.
