I got a night train back to Bulgaria, and stopped off in Plovdiv on the way. Bulgaria's second city was a great place to spend a hot spring day, and its old city was a world apart, on a hill high above the new town, with quiet cobbled streets and ancient timbered buildings.

After that, all that remained was to get back to Sofia and fly home, and start thinking about the next solar eclipse and how I might get there...
