The Words

The text throughout these pages was written by Roger Wesson. It is almost exactly identical to the reports given to our benefactors after the expedition. There are just under 17,000 words in all.

The Pictures

All photographs on this site were taken by Me. They are all © Roger Wesson 2000, but as long as you are not going to use them to make money in any way, feel free to do whatever you want with them as long as you credit me (see Terms and conditions for full licensing details).

Keen photographers might be interested in what I used to take the pictures. Here is a brief list of what I used:

Camera: Olympus OM-1, a classic fully manual camera from 1973. Jessops having destroyed my own OM-1, I had to use one borrowed from them for the trip. Don't try to get your camera repaired at Jessops! I also used two Boots disposable cameras along the way.
Lenses: I took with me a Tokina 28mm, Zuiko 50mm (both with UV filter) and a Soligor 135mm lens. Also took a polariser and a grey grad filter.
Film: I took 35 rolls of film with me, of which 30 were Fuji Sensia II 100 speed transparency film, and 5 were Ilford XP-2 black & white print film.

The only thing I could occasionally have done with was a 100mm lens, but I got by OK with what I took.
