China 2007 - Return to Beijing

I was returning to China for a conference, hosted by PKU where I'd spent the summer of 2002 working. I left London on a hot April day, very much looking forward to returning to China, but I managed to make the crucial error of leaving my laptop and therefore my conference presentation in London. I arrived at Beijing in a confused jetlagged haze but managed to avoid getting lured into a fraudulent taxi and made my way to the conference venue, the Fragrant Hills. I'd been there before and it was fantastic to be back. I spent three days in the Fragrant Hills, enjoying a great conference in the beautiful surroundings. I also made a brief return to the PKU campus, where I'd spent many a hot day relaxing in 2002.
