La Palma 2007

I went to La Palma for the fourth time in June 2007. The more I go to this island, the more I like it - it's incredibly rugged and spectacular, it's small enough to get to know very quickly, the people are friendly and they speak Spanish that sounds a lot like the Latin American version I learned in Central and South America, and the coffee is strong, plentiful and cheap. This time I spent several days at a conference in the fairly tacky resort of Los Cancajos, and then hired a car and drove around the island, from volcanoes to rainforests, and beaches to mountaintops.
