Southern Africa 2001

A weather-defeated solar eclipse experience was the cue for this trip, which began on June the 14th, 2001. The aim of the trip was first to rendevouz with the solar eclipse of June 21st, 2001 at a remote spot on the banks of the Zambezi, and then to explore other parts of Zambia and Malawi. During the five and a half week trip, I variously found myself stuck for three days in the dullest town on earth, spending a night outside an Angolan refugee camp, and getting lost on the tallest mountain in Central Africa, as well as seeing some world-class sights and meeting some of the friendliest people you could hope to meet, before returning to the UK on July 21st 2001. Here you can read all about the trip, and see some of the 1500 photographs I took. Read the story!.
